SUM: shared success
Our team members have held seminars teaching advanced math concepts to some of the top-performing students from the Hartsdale, New York Greenburgh Central School District 7.
We have also held a lecture in Hartsdale, New York Greenburgh Central School District 7 giving students, parents and community members a little insight into the world of math and education. “We are delighted and very proud to present this program by these distinguished scholars,” said Interim Superintendent Ronald Ross in a statement.
We have established a math group for first grade girls at a Princeton-area elementary school. With a grass roots approach, the program seeks to encourage parents to actively incorporate math into everyday activities including play dates and bedtime stories. The bracket also introduces girls to puzzles, logic, and building activities. Plus it encourages parents to highlight career choices that foreground math so that their girls can choose to become engineers if they'd like—just like the boys.
One of our team members was asked to help Raytheon launch the "Hippest Homework Happening" for MathMovesU.com. The only other speakers were Professor Sarah Greenwald, the late U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, the late U.S. Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis, Raytheon Senior Vice President for Strategy Bill Lynn, and Olympic gold medalist Apolo Ohno. The event took place outside the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
